Following decades of work in minimal electronic, film music, ambient, and Fourth World, I made an album of songs and sang my own lyrics. The result is melancholic, futuristic Art Pop, where intimate songwriting meets electronic experimentation and processed vocals.
The songs with lyrics (1, 4, 5, 7) touch on loss, absence, climate anxiety, childhood and the things we carry with us.
The album moves between recognisable pop structures and more experimental vocal textures.
I used vocoders, vocal processing and other effects. A different direction for me; I simply felt like singing, but still connected to the way I’ve always worked with sound and electronics.
On the other three songs I use my voice more freely, improvising sounds in a made-up language.
